[Class 110 (iii)] In a gas turbine plant in which the compressor and turbine are disposed alongside one another and in parallel relationship to the combustion chamber, the pipe connecting the turbine and the combustion chamber is disposed in such relation to the points at which the turbine and combustion chamber are anchored that in operation it will remain substantially parallel to its initial position. Air delivered by a compressor 2 passes by way of pipe 6, heat exchanger 5 and pipe 7 to a combustion chamber 4. Combustion products flow by way of a pipe 8 to a turbine 1, and are exhausted through a pipe 9 to the heat exchanger 4. The compressor is driven by the turbine. The turbine is fixed to the bedplate adjacent the pipe 9, and the compressor is fixed to the bedplate at either the inlet or discharge end. The free ends of the turbine and compressor are each free to slide between guides. The combustion chamber is supported by vertical rods, the brackets 11 connecting it to the rods being at approximately the same level as the centre line of the turbine. A guide 10 allows sideways movement, but prevents endwise movement. The fixing points of turbine and combustion chamber are situated at such distances D and E respectively from the pipe 8 that the increases of these dimensions due to thermal expansion are equal, so that pipe 8 remains parallel to its former position. Similarly, dimensions Y and Z are in such relation that, on expansion of pipes 7 and 8, the combustion chamber remains parallel with the other units.
