791,232. Generating combustion products under pressure. DE LAVAL STEAM TURBINE CO. Aug. 19, 1954, No. 24219/54. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] Fig. 1 shows a gas turbine plant in which the air enters an annular combustion chamber 20 through annular guide vanes 22, 24, retaining a considerable amount of the whirl velocity with which it leaves the compressor diffuser blades 18, but with the meridional velocity reduced below the flame propagation velocity. A series of fuel nozzles 26 are arranged in a circle about the axis of the plant. Cooling air flows between the wall of the combustion chamber and sheet metal linings 30, 42. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 5, the air passes over heat-exchanger tubes 88 before entering the annular combustion chamber 98 by way of pre-whirl vanes 90 and perforated annular guide vanes 92, 94. Fuel is injected through nozzles 96. Cooling air flows between the wall of the combustion chamber and sheet metal linings 102, 108.
