Abstract

608,878. Stop-motions for spinning &c. machines. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J., and MACKIE, J. P. Jan. 7, 1946, No. 582. [Class 120 (ii)] A stop-motion for spinning and like textile machines of the kind wherein a weighted lever falls on thread breakage to stop delivery of yarn or roving, such as that described in Specification 425,612, has a detector lever 8, which swings forward when a supporting thread 3 breaks, and a latch lever 29 loaded by the weighted lever 7 and normally retained by a nose 28 adjacent to the pivot of the detector lever 8, but which, on release by the swinging movement of the latter, moves forward and frees a nose 13, adjacent to the pivot of the latch lever, from a stud 14 on a link 9 connected to the weighted lever 7, so that the lever 7 falls and stops delivery, preferably by separating rollers 1, 1a. The weighted lever 7 exerts substantially no load on the detector. The rollers 1, 1a may be separated by a cam 16 which presses against the roller 1 under the influence of the weight 15 and traps the yarn or roving being delivered. The detector lever 8 may swing under its own weight or aided by a counter-weight 26, which may be adjustable.
