Abstract

605,569. Safety valves. VOLCAN SOC. ANON. July 16, 1945, No. 18183. Convention date, April 9. [Class 135] A safety valve in which the spring load is concentrated towards the centre of the valve seat to compensate for any distortion of the spring, comprises a casing 2 having an inlet 3 and an outlet 4 on opposite sides of a, flexible diaphragm 5, and a valve member 8 detachably secured to the casing by a screw 9 and provided with a rubber sealing washer 7. The diaphragm is formed with a central aperture for an annular seat member 10 urged towards the valve 8 by a spring 6, the upper and lower ends of which abut respectively against an adjustable cap 16 and a slidable cup member 17 having a conical end 18 which coacts with and concentrates the spring load towards the centre of the seat. A tubular member 15 limits the compression of the spring, and a hand-lever 21 is provided to open the valve through the action of a rod 20 on the flange 12. Specification 605,568 is referred to.
