Abstract

605,140. Rat traps. BROUGHTON, T. Dec. 14, 1945, No.-33983. [Class 5(i)] A self-setting trap of the cage type consists of four compartments, the entrance chamber A, intermediate chamber B, collecting chamber C and bait chamber D. The sliding door 1 is held in the open position by the bracket arm 2 connected to the platform 4 pivoted at 3. The animal stepping on platform 4 releases the door 1 then runs up the grid 8 depresses platform 11 and hence platform 12 since the hook 18 engages the tongue 16, the animal being then projected into compartment C. At the same time the lever 17 lying under the door 1 pushes the door up. The door is locked in the closed position by the engagement of the hook 19 in the slot 20. The hook is removed when the platform 11 is tilted.
