[Class 61 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] The upwardly-biassed handle of an operatorpropelled suction cleaner is automatically and releasably locked to the cleaner body in the vertical parked position of the handle so as to permit the cleaner to be picked up by it, and is unlocked from this position by downward bodily movement of the handle. A socket 42, Fig. 4, at the bottom of the handle 16 and secured to the cleaner body 10 by a bracket 54 has spaced parallel sides 44, Fig. 3, to which are secured cam plates 48, 46. A slot 62 in the plate 46 is engaged by a roller 70 borne by a shaft 72 in turn carried by a link 74 held by an upwardly acting leaf spring 30, and serves to lock the handle. The periphery of the cam plate 48 also constitutes a cam surface and has stops 102, 106, Fig. 5, to limit the operating range of the handle. This cam surface cooperates with a roller 92 carried on a shaft mounted on the free end of a spring-loaded link 96 in turn pivoted at 98 to the bracket 54.
