602,503. Fuel-injection pumps. PETERSEN, O. Oct. 5, 1945, No. 26039. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1943. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] A fuel injection pump comprises a piston 3 actuated by a piston 4 subjected to the pressure in the engine cylinder. The pump cylinder is connected by a passage 12 to a spring-loaded injection valve or valves, a slide valve 18 being inserted in the passage 12 and actuated by a cam 23 to determine the time at which fuel is permitted to pass to the injection valve. The pump piston 3 has an inclined edge 17 to vary the time of closing the suction ports 10 and a port 14 is connected to the passage 12 and is controlled by the the groove 15 in the pump piston to determine the time of release of pressure in the passage 12.
