Abstract

412,201. Valves; cylinder ports; pumps. JOHNSON, J., 11, Bullers Green, Morpeth, Northumberland. Dec. 20, 1932, No. 36101. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi).] In addition to the usual exhaust valve e, one or more supplementary exhaust ports c uncovered by the piston at the outer end of its stroke are controlled by a slide valve d which is opened during the explosion stroke and closed during the succeeding stroke. The port c communicates with a passage m leading to a conical injector device p, Fig. 4, arranged in a chamber q connected to the normal exhaust pipe n, the arrangement being such that the port c is first opened and the injector p causes a suction on the normal exhaust valve e, which opens later. The invention may be applied to two- or four-stroke engines.
