600,427. Hasp fastenings. PADMORE, J. L. Oct. 6, 1945, No. 26057. [Class 44] A fastening for attache cases, trunks and the like comprises a link 5, Fig. 3, hooked at 5b for engagement with a lug on the lid and pivotally mounted on a pin 8 working in slots 4d in the sides of the casing 4. The link is operated for closure by downward movement of a lever 6 through a hood-like coupling member 7, the side walls of which closely embrace those of the casing 4 and of the lever 6 in the closed position. On upward movement of the lever 6, the pin 8 passes into an inclined portion of the slot 4d causing the link 5 by engagement with edge 4g of the casing to swing clear of the lug after release.
