Abstract

593,062. Inductances. HEATING INSTALLATIONS, Ltd., and MOORE, W. W. June 7, 1945, No. 14337. [Class 38 (ii)] A variable inductance comprises two coils 2, 4 arranged coaxially one within the other, and a cylindrical magnetic core 5 of powdered or other iron which can be moved axially into and out of the annular space between the coils. The coils are connected in series, with fluxes in opposing relation to give a large range of variation. The ratio may be increased by arranging that the flux density in the region of the coil is the same for both windings. The Provisional Specification refers to a modification in which the coils are connected with the fluxes in aiding relation.
