Abstract

575,450. Transformers ; choke coils. AKT.-GES. BROWN BOVERI, & CIE. Jan. 17, 1944, No. 870. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1943. [Class 38 (ii)] The H.T. winding of a choke coil or transformer comprises tapped and untapped portions arranged symmetrically about the horizontal centre plane. The untapped portion comprising two pairs of cross-connected disc coils 4 in parallel is connected at the centre plane ME to the tapped portion consisting of cylindrical disc coils 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d with tappings U1 ... U7. The H.T. winding 4 is insulated from L.T. winding 3 by a solid layer 7 and from H.T. part winding by layer 8 ; the layers being so disposed about the windings that an annular cooling medium gap is maintained.
