Abstract

557,838. Inductances. POLYDOROFF, W. J. May 4, 1942, No. 5985. Convention date, May 5, 1941. [Class 38 (ii)] The core of a high frequency inductance comprises flattened particles of magnetic material, e.g. iron reduced by hydrogen and flattened in a ball mill, insulated from each other, held together by a binder such as kaolin or water-glass, and oriented so that they lie parallel to the flux. The core may be made of arcuate shape and arranged to be slidable in a semi-toroidal winding, Fig. 4, an additional piece being provided to complete the magnetic circuit, or it may be of straight cylindrical form about four diameters long and slidable in a coil about three diameters long. Alternatively, the core may be of rectangular form 12, Fig. 6, rotatable in a winding 11 so that the particles may be variably oriented with respect to the flux.
