Abstract
617,653. Transformers and inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 10, 1946, No. 30288. Convention date, Oct. 12, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] In a variable inductance tuning device having two co-axial coils 2, 3, the variations in coupling between the coils caused by the axial movement of an iron core 5 into the coils are counteracted by concentrating the majority of the turns of one of the coils in a region at the core entrance end of the coil, as at A, while the remainder of the turns are openly and evenly distributed. over the remainder of the coil, as at B. Another embodiment provides for the remainder of the turns to be accommodated in a region between the concentrated section at A and the opposite end of the coil. The turns of the secondary coil 3 may also be non-uniformly distributed. Specification 556,774 is referred to.
