Abstract

591,949. Screw fastenings ; bolts ; washers. BLACKWOOD, A. R., TAYLOR, C. A., and RAWLPLUG CO., Ltd. Oct. 25, 1944, No. 20785. [Classes 44 and 89 (i)] A bolt fixing device for securing articles to thin walls, hollow tiles, &c. comprises a part cylindrical member 1 bent up from sheet metal leaving a slot 2, with projections or serrations 15, through which the shank of a screw 6 may pass when the member turns from the inserting position, Fig. 1. to the fixing position, Fig. 4. Apertures in the member receive trunnions 4 on the nut and a further hole 7 provides for the passage of the screw which passes non-centrally through the member so that after passing through the hole 8 the member turns by gravity to the fixing position. Springs may be fitted to assist this movement. Washers 10, Fig. 4, with spigots 11 may be used in securing fixtures and centre the screws in the holes. Plugs or covers 12 may be fitted to conceal the heads. The washers and/or plugs &c. may be made of plastic material, hard rubber, or wood.
