587,805. Latches. ALLEN, F. J., WILSON, J. E., and DAVENALL, E. J. Jan. 6, 1945, No. 602. [Class 44] A door fastening, particularly for refrigerator doors, comprises a slidably mounted latch plate 1, having a slot 6 formed with inclined faces 5, 8, which co-operate with a catch projection 3, so that the latch plate is moved against the pressure of a spring 11 on closing the door, the return movement of the plate under the influence of the spring forcing the door against its seating, by reaction of the face 5 with the catch 3. After partial opening of the door, the co-operation of the face 8 with the catch tends to force the door open. The latch plate may be operated by a pedal 10 through a link 9.
