Abstract
587,783. Stud - and - socket fasteners. CAMLOC FASTENER CORPORATION. July 27, 1944, No. 14383. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1943. [Class 44] In a fastening device of the stud and socket type, one of the fastening elements is provided with a projecting base or flange which is fitted into an apertured mounting member having upwardly and inwardly extending flanges between which the base is introduced, the inner edges of the flanges being concave. In the form shown, the element 10, Fig. 2, is of the kind having a transverse slot 11, cam surfaces 12 and depressions 13 to co-operate with a second element consisting of a stud with a cross-pin, and is formed with a rectangular base 15. The mounting member 17, Fig. 1, has upwardly and then inwardly turned flanges 21, the edges 22 of which are curved to conform to the shape of the body of the element 10. The end parts 23, 24 of the flange are rounded, one part 24 being preferably more cut away than the other part 23, so as to allow the element 10 to be sprung into place by a slight flexing of the member 17 as shown in Fig. 5. The dimensions of the parts are such that slight movement of the element 10 in the member 17 can take place. An aperture 20, Fig. 1, in the mounting member 17 permits the passage of the stud element of the fastener into the element 10.
