Abstract
586,501. Change-over valves. HEYWOOD COMPRESSOR CO., Ltd., HUNT, J. A., MOREILLON, A. E., and PIGNON, F. T. Dec. 11, 1944, No. 24807. [Class 135] A change-over valve to control the supply and exhaust of pressure fluid to and from a motor, comprises a main valve body 21, having an inlet a, outlets b, c in communication with opposite sides of the motor piston, exhaust openings 11, 13 to the atmosphere, rings 4, 5 interposed between blocks 2, e and 3 to form compartments for double-acting valves q, v which are attached to a spindle n guided in the block e by spiders 7; a diaphragm m being attached to one end of the spindle and secured at its periphery between the main valve body and the block 2 to form a chamber k which communicates with the inlet a and the atmosphere by a two-way, auxiliary valve h having' an inlet valve g and atmosphere vent valve i. and controlled by a solenoid j, and an abutment fitting attached to the other end of the spindle for a return spring 8. In action, when the solenoid j is energized, the valve i closes and the valve g opens to permit fluid from the inlet a to pass to the chamber k and so actuate the diaphragm m to move the double-acting valves into a position which permits pressure fluid to pass through the valve v and the outlet b to one side of the piston, whilst the other side of the piston is opened to atmosphere through the outlet c, the valve q and the opening 11. On de-energizing the solenoid, the valve g closes and the valve i opens which relieves pressure in the chamber k and allows the spring 8 to return the double-acting valves to a position in which the - pressure and atmosphere sides of the motor piston are reversed.
