628,382. Relief valves. NEALE, F. Feb. 13, 1946, No. 12736/48. Divided out of 606,410. [Class 135] A relief valve 10, Fig 2, controlling an outlet from the passage between ports 28, 30 con. nected to a pump and a reservoir, respectively, is operated through an in. termediate member 22 by a valve lifter 39 on a spring-loaded piston 33 subjected to the reservoir pressure from a port 31. The intermediate member is mounted with lost motion within the valve and is loaded by a spring 27, so that on the valve being lifted initially, it is further lifted by the altered balance of fluid pressure and the action of the spring 27. In a modification the intermediate member is mounted within the valve lifter.
