581,657. Hinges. DEANS, C. F., and BUSBY, A. E. Oct. 2, 1944, No. 18802. [Class 65 (ii)] A self-locking knuckle joint for a pair of lever arms having means to lock the arms in a number of relative angular positions, comprises a pair of spaced pins 3, 4, on one arm 2, adapted to engage pairs of similarlyspaced notches 5, 6 and 7, 8, in a bracket 9 attached to the other arm 1, the lever 2 being axially displaceable against a spring 12 disposed between the bracket and a shoulder 14 on the arm 2 to bring the pins out of engagement with one set of notches and allow the arm to be turned to a fresh position so that the pins may engage another set of notches. In a modification, more than two pairs of notches are provided so that the arms may be locked in a number of relative angular positions.
