Abstract
576,410. Mixing &c. drums. WILKINSON RUBBER LINATEX Ltd., and McINTYRE, F. Oct. 20, 1944. No. 20386. [Classes 59 and 86] The drum of a pebble mill, mixer &c. comprises a tubular rubber body mounted in compression on embedded rods which connect the end plates of the drum ; the rubber body is constituted by rings. As shown the rings 10, together with metal spacers 16, are mounted on rods 11 connecting the end plates 13, the structure being braced by wires 20. The end plates are furnished with rubber linings 23 bonded to the metal by a ply of fabric 24 and burred washers 25 and bolts 26. The inner surface of the drum is waved, the thickened parts coinciding with the rods 11. A loading aperture is formed by a metal frame 29 secured to the cut-away ends of a rod 111 and fitted with an internal rubber lining 31. The cover 33 has a three-ply lining 34 and is held down by bolts 32. In a modification, the bracing wires are replaced by tapering metal plates.
