Abstract
628,368. Hydraulic presses. H-P-M DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Sept. 11, 1947, No. 24968. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1943. [Class 69 (ii)] An hydraulic press comprises a press head carrying a ram 22 co-operating with a bed 10, uprights 16, 17 are interposed between the head and the bed, the whole being held together by strain rods 20. The upright 16 carries a second ram 25 for which the upright 17 serves as a press bed. The invention resides in the provision of a dove-tail connection 12, 14 between the head and bed and the uprights so that the pressure of the ram 25 tends to draw the head 11 and the bed 10 together and reduces the stress on the strain rods. The ram 25 is adapted to hold the parts of a mould together and the ram 22 carries a forming member 29 to act on the material in the mould.
