Abstract
617,533. Transformers. STIVIN, J. Oct. 4, 1946, No. 29681. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1943. [Class 38 (ii)] A high-frequency transformer for high voltages and heavy currents such as are used in high-power transmitters or hardening apparatus, comprises an oil-filled container holding the primary winding made from copper tubing 5, a cylindrical wall 1 of which container is formed from a copper band which constitutes the secondary winding. The top 4 and bottom 3 of the container are insulating discs, and the ends of the band which form the output terminals are separated by insulating packing. Cooling fluid such as water is passed through the primary winding. The container may be of annular shape with an inner wall formed by a second copper band in series or parallel with the outer band, Fig. 3 (not shown).
