570,661. Casting structures in situ. HAWES, A. H. May 24, 1943, Nos. 8195 and 18090. [Class 20 (ii)] Shuttering for casting concrete walls, beams. &c., comprises panels 20, Figs. 1, 2, of wood or metal, having reinforcement, e.g., angle irons 21 on one face, spaced inwardly from the edges, and provided with clamping means whereby the panels may be secured in alignment by. longitudinal angle sections 30. The clamps comprise strips 22 secured to the reinforcement 21 and to the panels and provided with screws 25 for locking the panels to the longitudinals 30, and with a spigot, e.g., a screw 28 at the top of the panel and a socket, e.g., a hole 27 at the bottom of the panel, or vice versa, so that superposed panels may be held in alignment whilst permitting the removal of a lower panel without disturbance of the panel immediately above. The panels are provided with holes 38 for the passage of wires 37 which are gripped by screws 40, Fig. 7, in bars 39, and strained by screw 41 bearing against vertical tubular scaffolding 43. ,Distance pieces 44 between opposite panels maintain the longitudinals 30 in contact with the scaffold tubes, which may be coupled end to end by sleeves 60 and screws 62. The wall is cast course by course by removal of lower panels and the repositioning of these panels at a higher level. Where wires are not required to pass through the wall, they may be secured by screws in lugs on the longitudinals, and strained in similar manner by the thrust of a screw against the scaffolding. Longitudinals 30 which meet, at an angle, e.g., at a corner, interengage by a spigot and socket connection and these longitudinals may be extended so as to be clamped against a scaffold tube 43, Fig. 11, by wires 51 and a thrust screw 41. For casting concrete about an I-girder, Fig. 8, side shutters coupled by wires 37 above and below the girder are employed, these shutters having a base panel clamped thereto by a thrust screw 41 which strains a wire 70 positioned about the girder by pressure against a scaffold tube 43 against which the base panel bears. The claims are limited to the form and positioning of the shuttering and scaffolding, the means for securing the shutters being claimed in Specification 570,678.
