Abstract

1,037,139. Telescopic girders for supporting shuttering. R. D. RAMBELLE. Oct. 21, 1964 [Nov. 13, 1963], No. 43008/64. Headings E1K and E1S. In a telescopic girder for supporting shuttering for casting ceilings &c. the outer part 1 is of box section and has one or more longitudinal flanges 7 highest in the centre and tapered towards each end to produce a cambered surface supporting the shuttering which is flattened under. the weight of the concrete. The inner part is an I-beam 8 having a strip of polyvinyl chloride 13 held in its upper channel flange 9 to which the shuttering may be nailed. The box section 1 is formed with channels 15 at the sides also holding polyvinyl chloride strips. The ends of the box and I-sections are cut away leaving the channels 15, 9 respectively protruding as supports for the girder. In a modification one side of the box section comprises two parts 29, 30 Fig. 8 in the same plane connected by bolts 32.
