[Class 60] A safety razor blade sharpener comprises a plate 1, having thereon projections 11, 12 to engage the holes in a blade 23, and bent at 2, 4, 5 to form a bracket supporting a handle 10 ; the plate 1 has its undersurface rounded or angled so that when that surface is applied to a strop, and the device moved forwards and backwards along the strop by means of the handle, the blade edges are rocked into contact with the strop. The part 5 has secured thereto a milled sleeve 6, and mounted in holes in the parts 2, 5 is a pivot pin 8 for the handle 10. The blade is held on the plate 1 by a top-plate 13 recessed at 14, 15 to engage lugs 16, 17 of the part 5 ; a spring 19, having a part engaging a hole 21 in the pin 8, is shaped to press on the plate 13, which has an extension or thumbpiece 18 to enable the plate to be pivoted upwards for insertion or removal of a blade. In a modification, Fig. 6, a bracket 24 is mounted on the handle pivot pin 25 and has therein, spaced from the pin, a hole for the blade holder 27, which is in the form of a split pin acted upon by a spring 28. A blade stop, in the form of a ring 30, is secured on the front face of the bracket, and V-slots are formed in the front face on opposite sides of the blade holder, the one end of the blade being pressed within or against the ring 30 and in the V-slots, the other end of the blade, which lies between the limbs 32, 33 of the pin 27 having its outer end engaged by a projection 34 on the limb 32. The ring 30 may be replaced by a washer member on the pin 27 engaging the rear face of the bracket and provided with two lateral lugs forming, in conjunction with the V-slots, stops for the blade.
