Abstract

569,504. Camera &c. mountings. RIES, P. J. May 24, 1943, No. 8270. [Class 52 (iii)] A support for photographic apparatus and other instruments comprises a base member adapted to be secured to a support (for example, a tripod head), an annularly-grooved instrument-holding connector rotatably attached to the base member by a socket and spring-pressed latching pin, and means for securing the connector in the socket against rotation. As shown, a camera is secured by a central screw to a connector C rotatably socketed in a member 44 and removably retained thereon by a spring-pressed latching-pin 80 entering an annular groove in the connector. After rotary adjustment the connector is clamped to the member 44 by a screw 74. The member 44 is pivoted by a pin 50 to a second member 43 pivoted between ears 32 projecting upwards from a rotatable base B. The pivots may be clamped after the various angular adjustments by means of screws 57, 42 and 29. A handle 65 which may be clamped in any convenient position around the member 44 is provided for convenience in moving or adjusting the parts. When the camera is to be used in positions overhanging roofs or other elevated positions a Z-shaped extension bracket may be interposed between the connector C and the camera.
