Abstract

563,373. Work - holders. S. & F. TOOLS, Ltd., FITZGERALD, M. B., and SHEPHARD. H. Feb. 18, 1944, No. 5701/43. [Class 83 (iii)] In a work-holder for attachment to machine tools to enable the work to be supported in different angular positions, a member 2 is angularly adjustable about a vertical axis on a base 6 and has an inclined surface 5 coacting with a member 3 angularly adjustable about an axis perpendicular to the surface 5 so as to tilt its upper surface according to the angular setting. The work may be mounted directly on the member 3 or on a plate 8 rotatably adjustable thereon, screws such as 13, 14 being provided for clamping any of the angular adjustments. The member 3 may be adjusted by hand or by gearing such as a worm-wheel on the member and a worm on the member 2 and the setting is indicated by a scale and index mark on the two members. Slotted lugs 7 provide for securing the base 6 to the machine. Central bosses 8<1>, 11 on the plate 8 and member 3 respectively enter central openings in the members 3, 2 to locate the parts in position.
