Abstract

577,552. Door handles. HOPE WORKS, Ltd., and FRANKS, N. June 26, 1944, No. 12069. [Class 44] In a door knob or handle of the kind rotatably connected to a rose or plate, the latter is retained between the inner end of the knob and a circular flange 11 on a ferrule 10, the body part of which is non-circular and enters a correspondingly shaped hole in the knob. The ferrule is retained in position by a sheet metal member which comprises a base part abutting against the flange 11 and one or more arms 23 having parts 24 which engage internal shoulders or recesses in the knob, and are prevented from disengaging by the spindle 17 when the latter is inserted through the ferrule. The flange 11 is preferably rebated at 13 to accommodate the engaging part of the rose. The connecting member, Fig. 3, may comprise a base plate 19 to which are secured resilient arms 23 shaped as shown and extending through a rectangular hole therein, and the base in the ferrule may be rectangular to accommodate the arms 23 and the spindle 17.
