Abstract

552,066. Gauges. WASSELL, D. G. Nov. 24, 1941, No. 15128. [Class 106 (ii)] A tolerance gauge comprises measurement magnifying mechanism of the rotatable cylinder and flexible band type wherein the indicator showing the magnified measurements comprises a pointer movable in either direction over a fixed' scale, characterized in that the principal cylinder is rotated to move the pointer over the scale by rotation of a second cylinder connected directly to the principal cylinder by means of a flexible band or bands. Casing 1 is slidable vertically on slotted pillar 2, and is fixed in position by screw 4 and threaded shoe 5. A composite cylinder 6 has parts of different diameter encircled by bands 7 and 13 attached respectively to cylinder 8 and bar 14. Screw 12 operates cylinder 8 to set cylinder 6 and pointer 9 to zero position. Bar 14 is slidable vertically against plate spring 14a and is adapted to touch the top of the piece to be gauged. It also has an arm 19 for cooperating with arm 18, vertically adjustable, for gauging internal dimensions.
