Abstract

556,199. Linear-dimension gauges. BOLTON, E. June 25, 1942, No. 8715. [Class 106 (ii)] A linear-dimension gauge comprises a lever, adapted to be engaged with the work to be gauged and extending from one end of an elongated casing of the gauge and coacting with a second lever having an arcuate rack to engage a pinion by which an indicator can be moved over a partcylindrical scale at the other end of the casing. A lever 15 is formed of two parts 15a, 15b frictionally secured together by a screw and pivoted at 16. Movement of lever 15 in either direction from neutral position is transmitted by limbs 25 and pins 24 to displace lever 20 clockwise and actuate pinion 28 against the action of spiral spring 27, to move indicator 31 over a cylindrical scale 35, which may be angularly adjusted by knob 34. The casing may have a lug 37 or a tapped hole for the support of the gauge.
