[Class 20 (iv)] [ Also in Group XXII] A bar, for reinforcing concrete, of round section has its entire surface roughened to improve the bond to the concrete and thus avoid cracking thereof. The roughening may be produced by hot or cold rolling, knurling in a lathe, or arranging the bar as an anode in an acid electrolytic bath. The yield point stress of the. bar may also be raised by twisting, or by rolling or drawing; or by both twisting and rolling, or drawing. The roughening may take the form of pitting or embossed; ribbed, or grooved design or appear like sand paper.
