Abstract

551,725. Friction clutches. BORG & BECK CO., Ltd., and GODFREY, L. P. Oct. 3, 1941, No. 12819. [Class 80 (ii)] Relates to a driven plate for a friction clutch of the kind comprising a single disc 30 carrying on each side a facing 37, 39 of friction material, at least one of the facings being spaced from the disc at its inner edge by resilient tongues so that the facing is frusto-conical in the free position. According to the invention the tongues contact the facings across substantially the whole width of the latter and each tongue is connected only to the facing which it supports by at least two rivets 40 spaced in the direction of the width of the facing. The tongues may be separate from the disc 30 and riveted thereto, and each tongue may have a pressed-out spring- finger, Fig. 1 (not shown), engaging the facing on the opposite side of the disc.
