[Class 130] Cork tips for cigarettes are formed from a paperbacked strip of cork having the outer surface of the backing roughened to facilitate its adhesion. The strip is drawn from a roll a over an abrasive wheel b of carborundum, the direction of travel of the strip and the surface of the wheel being opposite. A take-up roller c and jockey pulleys d are employed.
