Abstract

1,009,664. Cigarette-making machines. MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd., and GALLAHER Ltd. Dec. 29, 1961 [Sept. 29, 1960], No. 33455/60. Heading A2C. A continuous rod cigarette-making machine comprises a hopper 1 to meter tobacco on to an endless conveyer 2, and a transfer conveyer 9 having one end above the conveyer 2 and the other end above a paper wrapper web 14, suction being applied to a chamber 12 located between the runs of the conveyer 9 to transfer the tobacco from the conveyer 2 to the underside of the conveyer 9. The conveyer 9 consists of a perforated metal band running over pulleys 10 and 11. A trimming device 19 is provided which may be as described in Spceifications 662,949 and 929,338 and the transfer of the tobacco filler on to the paper web 14 may be as described in Specification 895,733.
