Abstract

544,985. Steam superheaters. BLAUHORN, K. M. Dec. 11, 1940, No. 17568. [Class 123 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a plant using superheated steam from a steam generator having no or low water content, at partial load the steam is passed through a part only of the superheater on its way to the tubine. To protect the other part of the superheater, bled steam is fed through it and discharged to a steam accumulator. At peak loads, steam from the accumulator is passed to a suitable stage of the turbine or to other steam users. The turbine 4, 5 is a back-pressure turbine supplying exhaust steam to users 6. At full load, steam passes through the two parts 1, 2 of a superheater. At partial load, the steam passes through the part 1 only and steam bled from the turbine 4 passes through the superheater part 2 and is discharged into an accumulator 3. The pressure of the steam in this circuit may be boosted by a steam pump 14. The valves 8, 9, 10 and 13 are actuated automatically in response to the superheat temperature. Steam from the accumulator may be fed to the turbine 5, or, direct to the steam users 6.
