Abstract
543,240. Grinding tools or other articles to a radius. MAIR, D. E. C. April 25, 1941, No. 5334. [Class 60] To radius a tool or work-piece I this is given an arcuate movement having a radius C-D equal to the sum A-B of the radii of the grinding wheel J and of the curve to be produced. The piece I is mounted in a sleeve E<SP>1</SP> rotatable in a block E carried by links F of adjustable length from plates K pivoted at K<SP>1</SP> to a frame G. The block is swung by a handoperated slide H and links, and this movement may be limited by stops. For forming undercut surfaces, e.g. on milling cutters, the plates may be adjusted about the pivots K<SP>1</SP> and fixed by bolts L and the wheel J swung in a horizontal plane through an angle corresponding to that of the block E. Any suitable means may be used for rotating, indexing, or limiting the rotation of the sleeve E<SP>1</SP>.
