Abstract
542,518. Ventilators. ROE, J. J. A. Oct. 16, 1940, No. 15327. [Class 137] A foul air extractor for vehicles, aircraft, or buildings comprises a base plate with a central opening a<SP>1</SP> surmounted by an upstanding collar b having an outwardly turned rim b<SP>1</SP>, a cover e with depending skirt e<SP>2</SP> being supported clear of the base plate. Inner and outer sets of spaced baffles c, d are arranged in staggered formation and extending between the base plate and cover to support the latter. A flow of air past the ventilator enters between the baffles on one side and passes round each side of the collar, drawing off foul air through the extraction opening, and discharging it past the baffles on the other side. Fig. 6 shows the ventilator mounted on an uptake shaft hx leading to the interior of an air raid shelter, the lower end of the tube being fitted with an adjustable valve g.
