Abstract
541,109. Collapsable gates. SNARE, E., and CASTON & CO., Ltd. April 12, 1940, No. 6681. [Class 45] [Also in Group X] The series of sliding pickets 1, 6 suspended by rollers from a track. each have hinges 15, Fig.. 2, carrying leaves 16 or plates which extend at an incline and are themselves hinged together intermediate the pickets by butt hinges 17, one edge of each pair of leaves being bent to present, with the gate extended, a flat surface 19 where it is connected with the hinge flap 18 which surfaces and also the' surfaces of the pickets may be decorated as by applying stainless steel or enamel. The terminal or front style 6, Fig. 3, is provided with two grooved supporting rollers 3, 8 running on the curved upper surface of the track bar 4, and a roller 9 below the track bar and between the rollers 3, 8 is mounted in a pivoted bracket 10 and can be adjusted as by a set-screw 14, or by eccentric mounting. Lazy tongs are mounted on the pivots of the rollers 3 and may also be applied at other parts 20, Fig. 2, of the styles of high gates. A screening plate may be applied over the lazy tongs.
