Abstract
527,981. Reverse gearing for agricultural machines. BAMFORD, C. J., and BAMFORD. H. V. April 19, 1939, No. 11828. [Class 80 (ii)] On an agricultural machine, in which the land or crop engaging tools are driven by the wheels, a reversing gearing is provided which comprises a bevel gear 22 with radial teeth on the driving shaft 10 and skew bevel wheels 20, 21 loose on a shaft 13 crossing the shaft 10. The shaft 13 carries an agricultural tool, such as a rake 14, and a clutch member 27. The latter is splined to the shaft 10 and has clutch teeth 25, 26 at its ends which can engage teeth 23, 24 on the gears 20, 21 respectively. The clutch member 27 may be moved by a lever 34 which engages a saddle member 31 on the clutch 27. The gearing is enclosed in a casing 11. Specification 520,203, [Group I], is referred to.
