Abstract

527,914. Lamp caps and holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 16, 1939, No. 8446. Convention date, March 17, 1938. [Class 38 (i)] A cap for a tubular discharge lamp comprises a cup-shaped member 17 having a projection 21 attached to its cylindrical wall and a pair of contact strips 25, 26 that are attached to opposite sides of the projection 21 and extend across the interior of the member 17. Each strip 25, 26 is attached to a leading-in wire 12, 13 of the lamp and a removable disc 31 may be provided in the end wall of the member 17 to give access to the points of attachment. The projection 21 is rounded and the strips 25, 26 conform thereto and may have their ends turned inwardly and embedded in the projection. The holder 33 contains resilient contact strips 35 bent at 46 to embrace and hold the projection 21. The strips 35 lie in grooves 41 in the insulating base 34 and have turned-up ends 43 to which leads 47, 48 are attached by soldering or by screws 49. The base 34 has a concave surface 38 to fit the cap 17 or a boss 30 thereon.
