Abstract

517,185. Lamp caps and holders. GROTE, E. R., and BRITISH ELECTRIC LAMPS, Ltd. July 21, 1938, No. 21726. [Class 38 (i)] A resilient cap or terminal for a tubular lamp of the type having laterally disposed terminals, is divided by two parallel slits to form a central rigid section and two resilient side members for engagement between parallel conductive ribs fixedly mounted in a holder. The cap 2 which is attached to the envelope 7 by a flange 3 as described in Specification 431,376, [Group XI], is located upon the pip of the lamp by bosses 2a and has a groove 2b near its tip for engagement with the ribs 11, 11a in the holder 13. The cap is made resilient by slits 9, the lead-in wire 1 being soldered at 10 to the central rigid section. Dummy caps to assist in supporting the lamp may be provided. The ribs 11 are formed by the conductor running through the holder, and the rib 11a by a member rigidly fixed thereto either in the form of a D, Fig. 4, or of an attached plate of rectangular or L shape. The conductor is mounted in an insulating insert in the holder as described in Specification 431,332, [Group XI]. Specifications 336,418, [Class 38 (i)], 517,186 and 517,187 also are referred to.
