[Class 126] A domestic range or fireplace is fitted with a chamber i having a grate j at the bottom to receive kitchen or other refuse to be burnt. The hot gases from fuel burning on the fire grate a are admitted to the chamber through a door k and gases escape to the chimney through an opening o at the top of the chamber. A door n hinged at one of its side edges and a grating hinged at its lower, edge allow the insertion of the refuse into the chamber. A boiler c may be provided at the back of the grate above a hot gas passage leading to a flue passage e controlled by a damper f. A second damper h is provided between the chamber and - the canopy b. In a modified construction the grating m is dispensed 'with and the door n is hinged at its lower edge [to the chamber.
