Abstract
506,534. Winches. FISHLEIGH, J. A. Nov. 30, 1937, No. 33049. [Class 78 (v)] A winch is mounted on a wheeled vehicle readily connectable to a tractor and provided with ground anchoring means. The winch drum 10 is geared by way of a pinion 12 to a shaft 4 on which is mounted a gear box 5 rotatably adjustable to bring its shaft 6 into fine with the power take-off shaft of the tractor, which is pin-coupled to n drawbar 3. The pinion 12 is slidable in and out of engagement with the drum gear-wheel by a rockable lever 17, and a slip clutch may be interposed between, the gearing and the shaft 4. A frame strut 19, pivoted to the vehicle at 1a, has an edge 19a, or projections, spikes, &c. to engage the ground and oppose the pull of the cable 20, a lip 19e preventing the strut from digging too deeply. The cable 20 rides over a pulley 21 stidable on a shaft 22, and is constrained laterally by two vertical bars 16. A cross-bar 19g on brackets 19f attached to the strut 19 abuts against the vehicle frame 1 to limit the angular dip of the strut.
