Abstract

501,937. Partly electromagnetic switches ; controilers. BRANCHU, P. J., and SOC. FRANCAISE GARDY. Oct. 4, 1937, No. 26847. [Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v)] No volt release.-A switch for controlling an electric motor comprises a switch member 1 movable from the " off " position shown into either a " forward " or " reverse " position in which it engages contacts 16 or 1c, a "novolt " magnet 6 having an armature 5 pivoted at 16 and a link 3 pivoted to the levers 1 and 5 at 8 and 9. The switch is moved into the " forward " or " reverse " positions by pressing push buttons 11 or 12 and manual operation from either of these positions can only be effected by first pressing a push button 13 which brings the switch into its " off'' position. With parts in the position shown, pressure on button 11 or 12 first rocks the member 3 so that its pivot 8 is brought below or above the line 9, 7. Continued movement of the button causes the lever 5 to be directly engaged and turned about its axis 16 and this brings lever 1 into engagement with 1b or 1c. The consequent energization of magnet 6 completes the movement and presses the contacts firmly into engagement. Should current in the magnet 6 fail, a spring 10 returns the switch to its " off position. In the " forward " or " reverse " position, the button 11 or 12 that has not been actuated bears against a side of the link 3 and pressure on the button is without effect.
