Abstract

500,523. Two-part couplings. DISTLER, T. June 15, 1938, No. 17833. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A ceiling box and lamp support of the type in which the electrical connections are made by plugs on the lamp leads entering sockets in the box and in which the lamp is suspended on a hook,. has the lamp suspension made in two parts. One part consists of a screw stem 1 that enters the ceiling and a square enlargement 4 having a convex shoulder 3 that engages the bottom 8 of the box to hold it in place. The other part consists of a hook 6 that screws into a bore in the enlargement 4 and has a flange 7 to secure the cover 18 of the box. Within the box is an insulating liner 9 on which the sockets 13, 14 are mounted opposite holes 20 in the cover through which plugs 19 are inserted. Instead of single plugs 19 a ring-shaped multiple pin coupling may be used. When the box is not in use the hook 6 is replaced by a knob or screw to give a finished appearance.
