499,627. Etching. ALUMINIUMWALZWERKE SINGEN GES. April 8, 1938, No. 10852. Convention date, April 8, 1937. [Class 100 (ii)] In the preparation of aluminium electrodes for electrolytic condensers, the surface of the aluminium is first pickled, e.g. by a solution of an alkali, nitric acid or hydrofluoric acid, and then etched with an aqueous solution containing À5 to 30 per cent ferric chloride, 1-15 per cent hydrochloric acid and 1-50 per cent nitric acid. An equivalent solution using iron nitrate instead of the chloride may be used. After washing with water, the etched surface is provided with an oxide skin in the usual way.
