[Class 36] A power cable for connecting to transportable apparatus comprises one or more signalling or remote control conductors in addition to stranded insulated and unsheathed power cores, the signalling or remote control conductor or conductors being arranged within a stranded protective earthing conductor or conductors which is or are stranded with the power cores. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, three rubber insulated power cores 1 are stranded together with a similarly insulated earthing conductor 4 and embedded in a tough rubber covering 3 over which may be applied an earthing braid surrounded by a further rubber covering. The earthing conductor 4 is stranded over a core comprising signalling conductors 5 enclosed in a common rubber jacket surrounded by an asbestos layer 6. In the modified construction shown in Fig. 2, the earthing conductor 4 is constituted by three separate cores arranged in the spaces between the power cores 1. A rubber insulated signalling wire 5 surrounded by a heat-resisting layer, forms the centre of each of the separate cores of the earthing conductor.
