Abstract

494,072. Spinning yarns; winding bobbins. ELKINGTON, H. D. (Hungarian Rubber Goods Factory. Ltd.) March 3, 1938, No. 6745. [Class 120 (ii)] A bobbin holder for use on the spindle of a machine for spinning or winding artificial silk comprises a ribbed soft rubber sleeve which extends completely or partly into the bobbin, is arranged coaxially therewith, and has the distance between diametrically opposed parts of the sleeve most distant from the axis of the bobbin equal to the inner diameter thereof ; one or more rubber rings may be provided on the part of the holder not covered by the sleeve to assist in holding the bobbin. As shown, the sleeve 11 has longitudinal ribs 21 and is partly closed at the top and a single rubber ring 12 is disposed below the sleeve between retaining 'flanges 14, 22 on the holder. The end of the bobbin is seated against a flange 15 on the holder which has a bore 16 by which it is secured to the spinning or winding spindle by a copper screw 17. An ebonite screw 18 protects the screw 17 from corrosion and a rubber plug 19 in the bore 16 protects the spinning or winding spindle. The sleeve may be interchangeable and may be entirely closed at the top.
