493,734. Mounting bobbins on spindles. VEREINIGTE KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN AKT.-GES. Jan. 13, 1938, No. 1128. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1937. [Class 120 (ii)] A bobbin is coupled to the spindle of a spinning, twisting, or like machine by members arranged in diametrically opposed pairs adapted to engage opposed points or areas on the internal surface of the bobbin and the coupling members of each pair are pressed radially outwards by resilient loading means, e.g. springs, extending crosswise of the bobbin and rotatively entrained by the spindle but having no radial abutment therewith so that the pressure applied by the loading means to the coupling members of a pair is equal and opposite. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, springs 6, 7 freely supported in bores in the spindle head 13 act on the two opposite coupling members 2, 3 and 4, 5 respectively, the members engaging the interior of the bobbin 1 ; the springs are preferably located in sleeves 14 in the head 13. Each spring may engage a cross-piece at each end, each crosspiece carrying two coupling members. In another arrangement. Fig. 7, the coupling members are mounted in a sleeve 18 at the end of the spindle 12 and after the coupling members and springs have been introduced into the sleeve, the latter is closed by a cover 19. In another form, in which the spindle extends through the head carrying the coupling members, the springs are divided and a movable abutment member disposed around the spindle is inserted between the parts of the springs and transmits the force of the springs uniformly to each of a pair of opposite coupling members. In a further form, Fig. 12, in which the spindle 12 also extends between the springs 6, 7, these are formed of a stirrup shape with curved portions passing around the spindle 12. The coupling members and springs may be disposed in a cap placed on the spindle head.
