Abstract

493,434. Liquid - fuel injectors. ELKINGTON, H. D. (Naamlooze Vennootschap de Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij) June 16, 1937, Nos. 17959/38 and 17960/38. [The first Provisional Specification being divided out of Specification 492,211 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 23, 1937.] [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel-cooled injector in which fuel circulates along a periodically lifted needle valve 5, is provided with grooves, partly walled by the needle body and partly by the housing surrounding the needle, through which fuel is supplied to and discharged from the space 8. The grooves 5 may be straight or helicoidal and may be formed in the needle housing or between ribs 6 in the needle. Two opposed ribs on the needle may extend into grooves in the housing to prevent fuel passing from the supply duct 7 to the discharge duct 9 without entering the space 8.
